Looking for an HGV training school near you can be tricky. Such schools are very specialist and tend to be found only in heavily populated areas and nearby DVSA test centres for obvious reasons.

North East Driving School (NEDs) has two dedicated training locations in County Durham and Tyne and Wear providing local coverage of the North East of England. As the only National Register of LGV Instructors (NRI) approved centre in the region our instructors are not only fully qualified but they also train new LGV instructors. This attracts candidates from all over the UK who attend residential HGV training and HGV instructor training with us.

Local students travel each day from surrounding towns and cities from Edinburgh in the North to York in the South and Carlise in the West as well as candidates from Newcastle, Sunderland, Gateshead, Durham, Northumberland and Teeside areas. 

Candidates from outside the region travel from all over the UK and attend a residential HGV training course for one of two reasons:

• Availability – Right now we receive many HGV candidates from outside the region due to the high demand for HGV licences and as an authorised test centre with dedicated facilities we have access to more tests than most other centres in the UK. So if you want to get your licence fast then you know where to go.
• Reputation – As an NRI approved centre our instructors hold a higher standard of qualification than most in the industry and therefore the training you receive is naturally of a higher standard, which is clear to see in our pass statistics. 

Many HGV training candidates and HGV instructors arrange a residential training course especially when they travel from outside the North East Region. Candidates from London, Birmingham, Manchester, Belfast and many other major cities in the UK are struggling to get HGV training and test dates within acceptable times and that’s where NEDs can help.
